According to the website for Miss Jessie’s Original products for curly hair, Miss Jessie was the “cookinist woman in Poughkeepsie” and she taught her kids “not to take no stuff”.  She made a mean peach cobbler, and oh yeah, by the way, her grand daughters grew up to launch one of the most successful lines of hair care products for curly-haired ladies.  Sounds like my kind of sassy brown girls!
